 Artist Statment

Why do I create art? Well, I have always loved making things ever since I was little. The joy didn’t come though when I was taking pictures of my family or when I was in a classroom learning to draw a house. Don’t get me wrong I liked doing those things but the best time was when it was me and my art. I took pictures of odd things like pencils, grass, the floor, or even a trash can. During those times it's me and what I'm making. Nothing else matters and can affect me. When I'm working on a piece I have total control. It’s just my alone time. To this day I still prefer to take pictures of odd things but now I mainly focus on inanimate objects and still lifes. All throughout my art I want to convey that there's calm and good in the world. I want to tell people to slow down and take a look at the world around you. Whether in the city or the middle of nowhere, there's a beautiful calm there that sometimes all it takes is just slowing down and taking a look around you. Sometimes all we need is to slow down and take a breath to see the world around us. That's it, all I want to show people is that beauty. To show what people miss to the people. With the ever-speeding up world, we need some time to slow down and enjoy life. Time to sit and think. Time to breathe in and out. Time to relax.
